"Nights through dreams tell the myths forgotten by the day." (C. G. Jung)

The physical Notorious Consequences is Cancelled due to the current Covid-19 situation. Instead, we plan to run an online convention throughout November. More detail will be forthcoming as we work out the details.

Sins of the Others

It is the year 3726. Humanity has spread across the whole galaxy, colonising stars and subjugating others to the rule of the Terran Empire. For centuries, peace was achieved, albeit through the application of force and tyrannical rule.

Over time, the Terran Empire grew more bloated, arrogant, decadent and corrupt. It was only a matter of time before rebels and revolutionaries across the galaxy united to bring it down once and for all, and so a bitter civil war has raged across the stars for years. Make no mistake - both sides have left devastation and destruction in their wake.

With no seeming end to the stalemate, it was agreed that a final battle would settle the matter once and for all. The location: the surface and orbit of a planet called Tamaskis. The battle was brutal and very close indeed, but the Terran Empire emerged victorious.

It's now several months later. The Terran flagship is returning to Earth victorious with the Terran elites and a number of high status prisoners of war. But with conspiracies afoot, are matters truly settled?

*******

This is a dark sci-fi game for 30 players. Characters are a mixture of Terran elites and captured revolutionary leaders. Expect lots of politics and negotiations between the characters of the opposing factions. Conspiracies are rampant, and many people will have hidden agendas. However be aware that things may be turned on their head during the game..

Setting

All setting material is original and created solely for this game. Everything you need to know will be in the game materials.

Content Warnings

Some plots feature themes regarding the brutality of futuristic space war - issues such as use of weapons of mass destruction, chemical and atomic weapons, massacre and other war crimes, murder and PTSD. The game will also cover some tricky social issues such as imperialism, anarchy, fascism, activism turned to terrorism, crazed end of the world cults, and oppression/subjugation/enslavement of alien races. A number of plots are based on current political affairs and contemporary issues but are not intended to replicate any specific events. Themes include climate change, economic inequality, protest and populism.

The game features several different types of relationships - hetero, same- sex and polyamorous. In the setting, all types of relationships are considered completely normal.

Please note that this game is very much about 'shades of grey' - neither faction in the game is truly good or evil, and both sides are guilty of doing some bad stuff but they have also done some good. Don't be put off by all the darkness - there are also themes of hope, better futures and good fortune in the game!

Costuming

This is intended to be a costume-froth kind of game (although as always, do as much or as little as makes you happy).

The Terran elites like to dress lavishly as befitting their wealth and status. Think lots of bling and braid for the military types, and fancy gowns or ornate daywear for the civilians. Lots of colours are good.

The Revolutionaries are not down with quite so many frills, and prefer a simpler more functional appearance. They still like shiny buttons though and expressions of military rank and status where appropriate. Civilians favour simple frock coats and more muted colours - greens, greys and blues.

More guidance will come with the casting form.

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches towards Naish to bumble about?

Longtime TTRPG GM, newbie Freeform GM.
Fuzzy brained shaggy beast.
Subtlety, what's that then?

I think I am the oldest attendee - I certainly feel like it

I have a long and varied writing history. I wrote short plays and comedy sketches at school, wrote stories and articles for school and work magazines, wrote pantomimes and comedy sketches for AmDram, wrote reports, minutes, press releases and personnel letters for work in the MOD, that's without all the stuff I wrote to gather my collection of rejection slips. For many years now I have written table top campaigns for friends and Freeform games from a couple of hours to weekend long. Eventually I might write something I am happy with ...oh I did once. I wrote a short parody of Under Milk Wood when we guessed RNAD Trecwn was going to be closed. I do , do poems occasionally.
