"Nights through dreams tell the myths forgotten by the day." (C. G. Jung)

The physical Notorious Consequences is Cancelled due to the current Covid-19 situation. Instead, we plan to run an online convention throughout November. More detail will be forthcoming as we work out the details.

Who's Who at Consequences M

Graham "Graham" Arnold
GM for: A Dream is Just a Dream

Graham is a scurrilous individual prone to gross exaggeration and flights of fancy. He is too lazy to write his own bio. We do absolutely love him despite this

Ask him sometime about why he’s never been in a hot tub with his lodge mates Nathan and Richard.

Nickey Barnard
GM for: Aftermath, The Borden Legacy

Played my first freeform more than twenty years ago and have been writing them ever since the Peaky writing weekend first began, which was... a while ago now. I like a nice solid traditional freeform but have been playing international Nordic -style larps for a few years now. I make my own costumes, so come and talk writing or frocking or games generally with me - I'm a social soul.

Steve Bassett

Cameron Betts
GM for: Faustian Speed Dating

Cameron has been running games at Intercon since the last century, but this is only his third consequences. His preferences lean toward very few mechanics and just a smidge of lightheartedness. He believes that the most powerful thing in LARP is a connection with another character, and he hopes to produce games that will produce and enhance those connections, and that will avoid overshadowing or disrupting them.

David "Wyrd" Bretton
GM for: Sins of the Others

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches towards Naish to bumble about?

Longtime TTRPG GM, newbie Freeform GM.
Fuzzy brained shaggy beast.
Subtlety, what's that then?

Malcolm "Calum" Campbell
GM for: 21st Century Fake News

I've been playing and running freeform games since the '90s, mostly with groups of friends, and friends-of-friends, in old historical buildings from the Scottish Highlands to a Palladio Villa in Italy. I like trying new things, both as a player and a game writer. And I like meeting new people too. Just as well, as I've never been to Consequences before, and know almost no-one. So, that'll be me hooked, then.

Dream "Dream" Cloutman-Green
Dr Dream

The Doctor is in the house. Open recruitment for companions currently being undertaken, cougar bait need not apply.

Jonathan "Jon" Cloutman-Green
Wearer of many hats

Dave "Dave C" Collis
GM for: Musfealle

Esse quam videri and for everyone else a Yorkshire lad that just is.

Nick "Nick" Curd
Nobody of Importance
GM for: 4

David Dorward
GM for: The Borden Legacy

David stumbled into freeforming by way of murder mystery dinner party games about a decade ago and has been playing, writing, and running them and other forms of LARP ever since.

Jenny Dunn
GM for: London has Fallen

Rei England
GM for: Born This Way

Rei was born in a vast industrial wasteland where the sky glowed burnt orange at night and the odd explosion rocked the nearby houses. Rei is descended on one side from a mysterious orphaned farm boy, which may explain the suspiciously hobbit-like traits, and on the other side from a fierce war veteran matriarch. Rei's early diet consisted almost entirely of books, and later years involved being inducted into a mysterious local group listed in the phone directory only as a satanic cult, where Rei learned to wage war and perform magic while hordes of people insisted on giving Rei expensive pieces of cardboard. Rei finally escaped, and ran away to spend the next few years in an ivory tower to study the workings of imaginary universes, thankfully well populated with books and fellow cult members. Rei now spends weekdays disguised as a mild-mannered insurance risk mathematician, and evenings and weekends learning how to fly, poledancing, climbing silks, studying whichever subject seems fascinating this month, making music, sailing, riding, diving, and occasionally hitting people with things, although sometimes Rei gets confused and turns up at work in silly costumes. Rei uses a time machine to fit in freeform writing into this busy schedule, which is the only explanation for the 5 theatre style LARPs, several combat LARPs, a couple of tabletops, and a number of play-by-e-mail games that Rei has nevertheless managed to churn out. Rei's concentration span is often ooh shiny.

Kol "Kol" Ford
GM for: Bon Appétit, Meet in the Tavern

Kol Ford was first loaded into the back of a van carrying larp kit over 20 years ago and never quite managed to get over it. Writing, designing and producing weekend larps eventually gave way to writing short clever little scenarios.

Mathew Freeman
GM for: One Night in the Wires

2019 marks the year I've actually co-written a game, ready to play! True madness has descended upon me.

Roger Gammans
GM for: The Last Conclave, Night Train

Apparently I should have a bio.

I've written some games at peaky, and sometimes even run them at consequences.

Clare Gardner
GM for: The Circus of Wonders and Shadows

Prudence Greenwood
GM for: Bon Appétit

Graham Harper
GM for: Fear Of The Quark

Graham started writing and GMing games for Epic Experience after many years (decades?) of playing them, often as the infamous Herbert Rotwang.

Mel "Mel" Harper
GM for: Fear Of The Quark

Part of the Epic Experience. I would say "the one most usually found swearing at technology" but I think Graham's taken over that job this year...

Liz Hayward
GM for: Musfealle

Graduated from helping Dave Collis and Ben with small parts of Amber to helping DT a bit more with the Final Cut. Looking forward to seeing it's third run...

Alex "The Inquisitor" Helm
GM for: Sins of the Others, The Story of Tonight

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

Also some nice tea and chocolate cake please. :)

Ray "Ray" Hodson
Head Dragon Herder
GM for: One Night in the Wires, Snow White, Better Living Through Robotics

Long time roleplayer, GM, freeformer and writer. I love to weave tales based around history and myth.

Mo Holkar
Just Ordinaire
GM for: Fallen Stars, Reading Between the Lines

Mo spent twenty years writing freeforms as part of the Epic Experience collective.

Lately he's been writing stuff with other people, including some experimental-style bits and bobs at this Consequences, influenced by Nordic larp and by tabletop storygames. Watch out!

Mo is, thankfully, no longer responsible for maintaining and upgrading the Consequences website and database system.

Kevin Jacklin
GM for: It's Everybody's War, Winning the Peace

Kevin has been playing in, writing, producing and promoting freeform games for more than 20 years. A successful trilogy of co-written games, beginning with Home of the Bold in 1992 were the mainstay of the Convulsion convention, and introduced many stalwarts of the UK Freeforms group to the genre. Kevin produced the first UK weekend-long game of Cafe Casablanca under the Convivium banner in 1995. Kevin also enjoys boardgames, and it is through his association with designer Reiner Knizia that he has devised Hollywood Lives, which aims to meld together the constructive anarchy of freeforms with the world of high-pressure movie production and finance in an entertaining way.

Christian "CJ" Jensen Romer
GM for: By Airship Across Amazonia!, The Kantaberri Tales

CJ ("Christian Jensen Romer" was a fantastic pierce of baptismal bluff by his parents to make him sound more interesting than he really is)is a ghosthunter, psychical researcher and research parapsychologist in the 'Real World'.

In the world of games & conventions he is a fairly average kind of chap, who enjoys talking too much, playing boardgames and has written a number of RPG books for several systems, but most recently his contributions have mainly for Ars Magica 5th Edition. Or so he would have you believe...

CJ was a teenage Goth, and went on to a university career where he aspired to becoming "The Byronic Man", and succeeded only in becoming "mad & bad" but is rarely "dangerous to know". A debauch'd seducer of ladies, his wicked heart and sinister demeanour hide only macabre ancestry and terrible secrets. Gothic Consequences is the kind of place where innocent maidens and stout-hearted youths must use all their wiles to avoid his baleful influence.

Susan "Su" Jolly
GM for: The Last Conclave

Started her gaming career as "gamer girlfriend, frock fairy and ornament" at an embarrassingly advanced age. (If you recognise this quote you might be as old as I am or older). At an even more advanced age, has to concede that she might be OK at this. Previous credits include Squaring the Circle, Night Train, Dr Nefarious and the Paradise Project, moonlighting as Fest LARP crew, and some other games that deserved to be strangled at birth. The Dying Earth game is the game she always wanted to write!

Gary "Buster Jangles" Jones
GM for: The Last Conclave

Nasty, brutish, and short.
And hairy. Don't forget hairy.

My heroes wear black.

Helen Jones
GM for: Four Gods and a Funeral

Hello, is this thing on? Testing, testing - oops, sorry not at my day-job now. Err, got sucked into helping GM this thing, hope it goes OK. Will do my best to answer questions and ensure you have a fun time. P.S. as a feral roleplayer, can I just say 'she's not my fault!' (OK, yeah, she is, but what the heck).

Martin Jones
Web-Fettler
GM for: Grandma’s Resting Place, Aftermath, A Dream is Just a Dream

A not-so-closet gamer since your early youth, you played your first 'freeform' before the term was even coined, and have since contributed to writing Best of the Wurst, Veterans Day, Lists of Avalon, The Deliverance, Small World, Burning Orchid, BTL, The Apocalypse Agenda and A Dream is Just a Dream. You have also provided minor assistance in several other games.

Having successfully infiltrated a satellite construction facility your plans for subverting the orbital mind control device and using it to 'liberate' the world are one step closer. For reasons currently unclear to you, you have recently taken to referring to yourself in the 2nd person.

Megan Jones
GM for: Awakening, Four Gods and a Funeral

Raised since infancy by feral roleplayers, I actually started playing freeforms about five years ago. Since then, I’ve got sucked into this writing and GM-ing thing, and it seems like fun so far! Having had a lot of fun co-writing “Mean Street”, I’ve decided to give it another go with “Awakening” and “Four Gods and a Funeral”.

Heidi Kaye
GM for: Tea at Longbourn

Generally found on the sofa with a laptop into the wee hours, you are addicted to freeforms and board gaming. Having started on a whim as a last-minute player in Home of the Bold at Convulsion in 1992, your obsession has grown and grown. Beginning by playing freeforms at cons and the occasional game of Settlers of Catan at home, you swiftly moved on to writing, running and playing freeforms at every opportunity and owning a large collection of board games, playing them both in real life and online. As Comfy Chair of Peaky Games, you conduct an annual Spanish Inquisition as to who’s working on which freeforms to prepare them for publication, in your mania to spread your passion for freeforming to the whole world.

Your abilities are: existing on little sleep, writing your cats into your games and carrying a big stick.

Your Heart Ability (usable by your True Love) is multi-tasking.

Your goals are: find the six-fingered man who killed your father, the one-armed man who killed your brother's wife and the woman in white who escaped from the asylum. And maybe find some romance on the way....

Abi "AgiBear" Kirby
GM for: The Circus of Wonders and Shadows

Hugs are awesome, feel free to ask for a hug at any time.

I'm pretty new to writing/GMing games but I've been playing Freeforms since 2008 or so.

For me, coming to Consequences is like coming home. It's where my family are. It's one of the most welcoming, friendly and loving environments ever and is full of wonderful people.

Heather Law

Mrs Heather Law, a most peculiar specimen of the female species. Doused in tea, half pickled in gin, and worryingly obsessed with aspidistras... Also her hats are always most fabulous and foppish! Her wheelchair is known as the Chaos Chair, it may be heretical, please avoid purging it!

Sue "Queenortart" Lee
Mystery Shopper
GM for: Grandma’s Resting Place, It's Everybody's War, A Dream is Just a Dream, Critical Path, Better Living Through Robotics

I get to go shopping! Just running 4 games this year, delighted to also be playing

Ooops call it five games

Ben Llewellyn
GM for: Bottom of the Garden

fiona "gwaunquest" lloyd
GM for: Sins of the Others

I think I am the oldest attendee - I certainly feel like it

I have a long and varied writing history. I wrote short plays and comedy sketches at school, wrote stories and articles for school and work magazines, wrote pantomimes and comedy sketches for AmDram, wrote reports, minutes, press releases and personnel letters for work in the MOD, that's without all the stuff I wrote to gather my collection of rejection slips. For many years now I have written table top campaigns for friends and Freeform games from a couple of hours to weekend long. Eventually I might write something I am happy with ...oh I did once. I wrote a short parody of Under Milk Wood when we guessed RNAD Trecwn was going to be closed. I do , do poems occasionally.

Ken "Drimdal" Marquetecken
GM for: The Cabalistic Conclave of Carnage., The Cabalistic Conclave of Carnage.

Been roleplaying ever since my lego guys had to defeat the big teddybears from invading legocity and havn’t stopped since. I’m the guy that will always answer yes to the question: “want to play one more game?” Discovered Consequences in 2017 and loved it from the start. First time GM’ing here but hopefully not the last.

Allison "Alli" Mawhinney
GM for: The Cabalistic Conclave of Carnage., Awakening

I've been freeforming for a hmmmm ... few years now and have been writing Freeforms games for the last 8 years mostly through the Peaky weekend! Happy to chat to anyone in and out of game!

Elyssia McCormick
GM for: Love Letter: The Crusade

Tony Mitton
GM for: Memories of Falkonia, Drake's Nebula

Julia "Jules" Nienaber
GM for: Born This Way

Jules loves Larp!

Tym "Tym" Norris
Supreme Overlord Of All things Printed

Tym is a long time gamer and a mad scientist (Engineer actually). He's been known to build tazers and there's a rumour that he has a Tesla Coil in his dining room and a railgun in his garage.

Thomas Nowell
GM for: By Airship Across Amazonia!, The Kantaberri Tales

Mike Nudd
GM for: One Night in the Wires

I've been gaming since I was a teenager and have been interested in all forms: RPGs, LRPs, CCGs, board games, miniatures.

While at sixth form I worked at the local Games Workshop, and at university went on the found the Frothers Unite - UK! fantasy miniatures web forums.

I've been playing the Vampire: The Eternal Struggle card game since 1994 when it was released, and after a stint playtesting cards for White Wolf, I am now design cards for the game, now republished by Black Chantry Productions.

I have written freeform 'blast' LRP games for many years, but have not engaged much with organised LRPing. Through my interest in Vampire I was the VST for Requiem for the Isles of Darkness for a year, which culminated in running a regional event in Essex for 100 people, but it was a very mixed experience, and I'm not likely to ever do that again.

I am also a freelance board game designer with 3 published games in my name to date. The most recent of which is Dice Hospital, which just closed a very successfully Kickstarter campaign for expansion content. The official Captain Scarlet board game for Modiphius Entertainment should be next up before the end of 2019.

Through Modiphius I've also ended up doing a bit of writing for Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition. The opening pages of the Storyteller's Toolkit are all my words (sadly uncredited) but I am contributing substantially to the Fall of London campaign book due to be released before the end of 2019.

Petter Olsen
GM for: Bad Science

I have played several dozen freeforms the last 15 years or so, I have GMed a few dozen, and together with my partner I'm just starting to write some games. We are both involved in game-based learning courses at the university, which probably influences our approach to the games we write (but hopefully the games should still be fun to play).

Amanda Ostraat
GM for: The Omega Expedition

Alan Paull
Boardgame Wrangler

An older gamer, I've been known to play almost every genre of game (quite badly), though in the twenty-teens mainly card games, Boardgames and Wargames. I also design same (quite well?), primarily through Surprised Stare Games Ltd, a game design and publishing company.

Charlie Paull
Boardgame Wrangler
GM for: Night Train, The Circus of Wonders and Shadows

Alan & I bring and run the boardgames library at Consequences. We're happy to teach, play or lend boardgames at any time. We have a wide range from absolute beginner to genuine geek and all stops in between.

I also write, run and play freeforms.

Rich "Gladiator" Perry
GM for: Love Letter: The Crusade, The Circus of Wonders and Shadows

Richard has been playing freeforms for a very long time. He started as a half- elf and developed into playing bad guys, after being misled by good friend. Now he plays space pilots and white hats, while mixing in a little romance here and there.

He was part of the writing & GM team for Siege of Troy and 2018 saw the debut of Shogun.

If you want to know about Roman gladiators please feel free to ask.

Nathan Richards
GM for: Critical Path

I have dedicated my life to promoting world peace and I flatter myself that my skills enable me to successfully fulfil the role in Larps of defusing confrontation and of promoting public safety and security between others. I focus on developing mutual trust and understanding in order to secure peace and harmony for a land flowing with milk and honey.

Glowing testimonials can be obtained from many of my fellow players, should anyone doubt it, just as long as they give me enough time to ply the relevant players with alcohol and/or leverage the blackmail material I have carefully collected over my many years in the gaming hobby.

For the record, there is absolutely no truth to the rumour that, after last year's convention, I was nicknamed Scaramanga for allowing the Doctor to drug the crew of our spaceship with sedatives extracted from the milk expressed by my third nipple.

Alison Rider Hill
Accommodation Tsaritsa
GM for: Winning the Peace, It's Everybody's War

Alison lost count years ago of the number of games she has played; has co- organised some cons and co-written a few games (including Winning the Peace which is running this year)

She may also have written to you about your accommodation here at Consequences.

Alison doesn't often bite so please say hello if you encounter her particularly if you haven't met her in the flesh before.

Chris Robinson
GM for: The Cabalistic Conclave of Carnage.

I consider myself a ‘Neek’ half nerd, half geek.
I am a sci-fi and gaming nerd, I love sci-fi movies and tv, and I’m an avid PC gamer. 🤓
I also like to do something called ‘freeform gaming’ 😉
I am a professional PC engineer, and total computer geek.
🧐

Finally, I am an outgoing introvert, which means I love to party, but I also need my alone time. 🤪

Richard Salmon
Chief Lieutenant: Team Villain

Richard has been playing freeforms for rather too many years now.

In 2004 he was part of the writing & GM team for Siege of Troy and has been hindering Consequences since its inception by providing the platform upon which Mo works the magic of the web site.

In a break with what had become a tradition of just helping other people with their games, this year he is running Diamond Geezers himself (OK, it's still someone else's game, but at least I'm being Lead GM this time).

And to keep tradition intact, he's helping with A Grandiose Disaster as well.

Richard "Rich" Salmon
Chief Lieutenant: Team Villain
GM for: Critical Path

Richard has been playing freeforms for rather too many years now.

In 2004 he was part of the writing & GM team for Siege of Troy and 2018 saw the debut of Shogun.

He has been hindering Consequences since its inception by providing the platform upon which Mo and Chris work the magic of the web site.

This year he's taking over the reins from Suey on Critical Path (a game that every true freeformer should experience) - that should keep him busy for the next few years!.

Adina Schreiber
Hunter of McGuffins, Collector of Widgets
GM for: Faustian Speed Dating

Third year at Consequences, traveling from Boston. Consequences Bid Com member. Intercon Proposal Com member. NEIL board member. Editor of Game Wrap. NELCO staff. LARP blogger. Live-combat and theater style enthusiast. Costume Diva. Anglophile. Fairy/poison type Pokémon.

Andrew "AJ" Smith
Sifter of Arcana
GM for: Aftermath, Ops!, Tea at Longbourn, Memories of Falkonia, 4

AJ appears under a renewed contract from Rent-A-GM™.

Mike "Mike(y)" Snowden
Herr Coctailmeister

I'm the one with beard, glasses and an armful of props, and hopefully a pint. OK, that's half of the con. Replace "prop" with "PA", and I'm more easily identifiable.

I'm an experienced writer and player; My previous games as co-author include "Come Hel or Hiawatha", "Small Town Folks", "Veterans Day", "Carry on at Camp David", "The Dying of the Light", "Dr. Nefarious and the Paradise Project", "The Saga of the Lost" and "Ex Nihilo", offspring from the Peaky writing weekends.

Christi S
GM for: Strangers

Christi is Not Dead Yet, and is hoping she's on a roll in that respect. She has been to every single Consequences, and is uncertain whether to be proud or ashamed of that fact.

Mark Threlfall
GM for: Bottom of the Garden

Born in Liverpool Mark emigrated to Yorkshire at a young age. Since then he has fought to be accepted by the wonderful but strange Yorkshire folk around him.

Life was good until a shocking event left him questioning everything. Over a few years he discovered his three closest friends (Amy, Lyn and Rae) were really family, and conventions with his tribe were awesome.

Cat Tobin
GM for: Reading Between the Lines, Fallen Stars

Cat has been playing games for a while now and sometimes writes them, too. She likes coffee, hates mornings and is not a secret agent.

David "DT" Townsend
GM for: Musfealle, London has Fallen, Better Living Through Robotics

Ruth Trenery-Leach
GM for: New Life

Anonymised User
Mistress of the Arts

More art from across the pond. This year with gothic flair.

Have a great con!

Hugh Wake
GM for: By Airship Across Amazonia!, The Kantaberri Tales

Traci Whitehead
GM for: The Last Conclave, Night Train

A latecomer to games of all types and I've spent the last decade or so enthusiastically trying to make up for lost time.

Brian Williams
GM for: The Omega Expedition

Another year, another Consequences...

I'm back again, this time having dusted off "The Man in Black", which hasn't seen the light of day (although, arguably, the bar in The Man in Black never sees the light of day) in the UK since Intercon A! I wonder if the next time I run it will be Intercon Z? AJ is back as my co-referee for another year

Laura Wood
GM for: Arsenic & Lies, New Life

I have written several larps which have run in several countries throughout Europe. I am a co-organiser of The Smoke (London's international larp festival) and On Location (a weekend long larp about existential angst in the 1930s film industry.) I have run 2 games that I have written previously at Consequences, Here Comes a Candle and Living Embers.

Janet Young
Finance Consigliere

I like writing and playing freeforms and when I grow up I'd like to work with animals and help bring about world peace - please.
